Monday Missive: May 9
Well, it was a VERY big weekend for me - because I got engaged!!!! On Friday I went for a walk with my boyfriend after work and he asked me when we were in our favorite park in Boston. After we celebrated just the two of us that night, the rest of the weekend was a blur of Mother’s Day celebrations, seeing friends and family and trying to get my head around starting the planning process. It honestly doesn’t feel real, and I hope everyone is ready for roundups of white dresses and bachelorette favors (only kind of kidding!) - D
Even with the crazy rain in Maryland, we had a busy weekend with the Kentucky Derby (what an upset!), a father-daughter dance, a family fun day at the girls’ school, and Mother’s Day. I was given many sweet art projects from the girls for Mother’s Day as well as presents that hit on all of my favorite hobbies-Real Housewives , eating chocolate, and entertaining! The perfect trifecta. And of course, so much excitement about Dinah and Ken’s engagement!! Dinah is coming to visit this weekend and I can’t wait to dive right into wedding planning fun.-E
What We’re Reading and Watching
If you’re intrigued by the Enneagram, but have never really understood it, this was a great podcast with so much information for newbies or people who are already into it! I have never been able to figure out my type before, but it finally became clear to me after listening. -E
You need to read this Architectural Digest article all about the gorgeous interior design that Chauncey Boothby created for this Connecticut home! -D and E
I read Sister Stardust in one day and was so into it! -E
Is anyone watching the Kardashian’s new show on Hulu? I said that I wouldn’t, but then I was mesmerized by Kourtney’s relationship with Travis Barker and now I can’t stop. -E
I’ve been reading a very fun YA book called The School for Good and Evil, which is about two girls from a small town who get abducted from their small town and put into a school that trains villains and heroes for fairy tales. It’s very silly, but totally enjoyable and has been such nice brain candy during a very stressful week. -D
I started watching the HBOMax series Made for Love, which stars Christina Milioti, Ray Romano and Billy Magnussen - it’s about a woman who is married to a tech founder that has implanted her with technology that monitors her every move and reaction. She tries to get away from him and ends up home in her small town with her father who is the local drunk. It sounds super dark, but is actually really funny and has a great cast. I thought it was new, but I guess the second season just came out! - D
What We’re Buying
Just ordered this cream blush after reading so many good reviews about its staying power. -E
I’m so into the gold detail on these sandals. -E
These candles have the prettiest containers. -E
It was one of my closest friend’s birthdays last week and I got her what I thought was the cutest purse! I don’t usually post gifts on here, but I loved this pearl handle bag so much and thought others would love it too. - D
What We’re Making
It was cold and rainy on Friday, so I decided to make a cozy soup and I found a new favorite recipe-Easier Italian Wedding Soup in the new Half Baked Harvest Every Day cookbook! It was so good-we literally ate every drop of it. The only thing I did differently from the recipe was to cook the tortellini separately for Chad and Lila and then just added in to the bowls for whoever wanted noodles. The kids kept the noodles on the side, but still loved the soup and Hadley went back for thirds! -E
