Weekly Bravo Cocktail Party: December 4

The real shocker to me on Bravo this week was that the season finale of Potomac is on Sunday! How can that be? I feel like the first half of the season flew by, and while the second half has been slower with too much time spent on the fight between Monique and Candiace, I’m still not ready to see it go. We’re getting Dallas and Atlanta back soon, so at least we have that to look forward to. Otherwise, it was a lot of seeing people in the OC and Charleston deal with the pandemic, which they handled pretty much as you would expect, and honestly, I think that feeling is still too fresh for me, so it just stressed me out to watch them. Thank goodness that SLC was filmed long before the pandemic, so they’re dealing with major issues like getting mad about other adult women cancelling a sleepover to be with their children. That’s the kind of drama that I can get behind.

Who DIdn’t Get an Invite:

Shannon: Watching Shannon deal with the pandemic was pretty much what I expected: she was shrill, she was self-absorbed, she was stocking on obscure supplements that even she didn’t seem to know what they were supposed to do.

Elizabeth: For me, the jury is still out on Elizabeth. I’m with the ladies in that we’ve had enough talk about her divorce which she’s not allowed to talk about, and how much money she has (and the terrible ways that she’s deciding to spend it!). If we could have more honesty from her and more interaction with the ladies, I think she has time to turn it around and show another side.

Kathryn: She also handled the pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement about as poorly as I anticipated. Like Shannon, she’s self-absorbed and stressful situations do not bring out her best side.

Ashley: Ashley was really working at stirring the pot between Monique, Karen and the rest of the ladies. While I would like to think that she was doing it in support of Monique, I think it was more in support of a general interest in creating some drama and conflict.

Karen: I have loved Karen this season and I thought that she was doing a good job at staying neutral and out of the drama, but things really fell apart for her with the whole wig party. I’m still not sure if she was trying to be a good friend to both Monique and Candiace by inviting them, or if she was trying to be a bad friend by trying to create a situation where they would come into contact with each other at her wig party. I did love how, as soon as the ladies started calling her out on her messy ways, she just left the party, leaving them all stuck there with her wigs still in on their heads.

Who Made the Guest List:

Gina: Gina stocking up for the pandemic by going to an Italian market and buying sausage and pasta was pretty much perfect. Her realization that she was going to be stuck in her little house for an indeterminate amount of time with six children was also pretty priceless.

Sean and Rowan: Braunwyn has a lot going on right now, and I think it’s natural that she’s basically an open wound and struggling to deal with herself. I definitely feel for her. But watching that scene of her in the basement party room with Sean and Rowan made me really feel for them as well. Sean couldn’t do anything right and Braunwyn kept shutting down Rowan so that she could talk about herself. It was exhausting and I’m worried about the toll that it’s going to take on Rowan and her other children.

Angel, Adore and Grace: I also felt so badly for Gizelle’s daughters, as they so clearly don’t want their parents to get back together and they can see what a terrible idea it is for their mother but they can’t do anything to stop it. They did look so pretty at their photo shoot and at least they have each other to commiserate with, but it can’t be easy to watch your mother put herself in a situation that you know isn’t going to go well for her. They seem like such sweet and level-headed girls.

Wendy: I love Wendy’s facial expressions! She gives the best reaction shots and they have me laughing every time.

Everyone on RHOSLC: I don’t know why, but this episode really did it for me. I loved the commentary by Heather and Whitney at the 20’s/Stripper party when they were watching the fight go down between Jen and Meredith and Heather’s commitment to her food order. I also loved their thoughts on Mary’s Met Gala themed luncheon with the Royal Guard valets, and I loved the randomness of Mary for picking that theme and yelling at her staff while they set it up. I loved what a hot mess Jen was and what a cool cucumber Meredith was. Lisa continued to be totally self-absorbed and I even loved that! The whole thing was like a mini relaxing vacation for my mind, and it’s terribleness made me so happy.
