Weekly Bravo Cocktail Party: August 14th

There was almost too much Bravo goodness in the air this week! Between the plot against Hannah on Below Deck Med, the drama at Ashley’s dinner on Potomac, the third leg of the Rome trip on RHOBH, and the continued antics of the ladies in Mexico on RHONY, I could barely keep up. That said, the ladies seem to be falling into their old patterns and our list of coveted cocktail party attendees and social exiles are settling into some similar patterns with a few shake-ups to note.

Who’s Not Invited:

Malia: Ooooh, I really did not like her behavior this week. She was so bratty about sharing a bunk with her boyfriend. We get it, you want to cuddle with your boyfriend, but the charter season is almost over, everyone else is happily ensconced in their bunks and people (Hannah) are also feeling fragile after Kiko’s firing. To win that argument by going over Hannah’s head to Sandy was bad enough, but to then go through Hannah’s stuff and take her prescription medication to Sandy was awful. If she was actually concerned about whatever the maritime law is about crew taking prescription meds, she should have talked to Hannah about it directly-sneaking behind her back and taking it to Sandy was terrible and I think my good opinion of her may be ruined forever. (Or at least until we see what happens next week).

Dorinda: The drama about computers and phones at the table was likewise a nail in the coffin for me with Dorinda this season. She was so aggressive with Leah and Sonja in the morning, goings after them and complaining about their manners or lack there of, which literally made no sense. Then, when Dorinda gets called out for doing something similar at the lunch table, her sarcastic and out of proportion response was like nails on the chalkboard to me. I literally can’t watch her anymore because it’s so frustrating. I’m with Ramona and her crocodile tears on this one.

Denise in Confessionals: She made a big deal about being honest with the women and how she couldn’t win because they don’t believe her, but then in her confessionals she admitted that there was some truth to the accusations about her talking about Erika and Teddi. This double play doesn’t look good. I agree with her that there’s a difference between Denise saying that Erika is cold and Denise not disagreeing when Brandi says it (and isn’t it so typical that Brandi would throw her under the bus for that? That’s the problem with someone like Brandi. There’s a kernel of truth in what she’s saying, but it’s twisted beyond the original intent and in a way that places all the blame on someone else).  I honestly don’t think it’s a big deal that Denise talked about the ladies, but for her to say one thing to their faces and something totally different in confessional is a strange choice. Does she understand how the show works?

Sutton’s Clothes: They’re still terrible.

Candiace: Is also still terrible. It never looks good for a housewife to start telling the whole table to f-off. It didn’t work for Kyle earlier this season on RHOBH and it isn’t working for Candiace either.

Who Made the Guest List:

Hannah: She’s far from perfect, but I’m really feeling for her this season. She’s been an anchor in this franchise and deserves help and support in whatever she’s clearly going through, rather than this attempted usurping by Malia.

Karen: I also really felt for Karen in this episode! Her relationship with Ray doesn’t seem to be filling her love tank and I really want these two to find their way back to each other.

Gizelle: If my husband ever asks for jewelry advice, I’m just going to show him the clip of Gizelle advising Juan on what kind of diamonds to get for Robyn’s new ring. She’s amazing.

Luann and Leah: Have you heard the rumors about the shake-up in the cast for RHONY? I would vote for keeping Luann and Leah and getting rid of everyone else. These two ladies on the prowl in Mexico were cracking me up-they are an unstoppable force when it comes to picking up men and maybe we should just have a show were they pick up men together? They’re providing all of the light-hearted fun and positive energy in this group, and Leah’s confessional outfits are all kinds of the good type of crazy.

Denise and Rinna: I loved the scene in the lobby between Denise and Rinna. It was the most honest and raw we have seen either of them this season. You could see that Rinna’s conflict between creating drama for the show and actually being herself was really wearing on her. It was also the first time we’ve seen Denise really talk through a problem-she resisted storming out and just sat with Lisa, giving the argument space to resolve itself.

Kyle and Dorit: I loved their drunken antics and Vespa side car ride! I also love how Dorit has handled the situation with Denise.

Sutton’s Take Down of Buca di Beppo: That was perfect.
