Bravo Cocktail Party: May 21
Well, we had the premiere of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week and I would love to know what other people thought! Here are my takeaways. The first episode was a lot of foreshadowing of the drama to come with Erika and Tom-shots of her rooms of clothing and expensive jewelry, hints of her unhappiness and depression during COVID, so I don’t think they’re going to let her off easy this season. My other main takeaway is that we’re going to have to look to the newbies for any other drama this season: Garcelle is not backing down from her dislike of Rinna and Kyle, Crystal is going to criticize everyone, and Sutton seems to wander into fights like a lost lamb who doesn’t really know what’s going on. Kyle and Dorit seem to be here to show off expensive material goods and give good face in reaction shots, while Rinna is going to once again get all the drama from her kids storylines rather than her own.
On the first part of the reunion for Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jennifer was bringing a lot of energy to her fight with Margaret. These two really do not like each other. (Also, did you see Jennifer and Melissa swiping at each other on Instagram. That was great too!) Joe Gorga was brought out ahead of the other husbands to talk about the marriage drama with Melissa, and it honestly didn’t seem to me like they were in a much better place than they were during the season, which definitely worries me. And Dolores just keeps getting plastic surgery-to each their own, but I thought she was already so beautiful!
New York was uneventful this week except for poor Sonja being a drunken mess again (this is super depressing to me) and Leah and Eboni both calling Ramona out on bad behavior-we can see in the cocktail party invites which one I thought did a better job!
Bravo Cocktail Party: May 21st
Who’s Not Getting An Invite:
Leah: Her outfit and her attempt to start drama with Ramona were both a little much this week. She wanted to call Ramona out on her claims that she donated plasma to fight COVID. Ramona basically admitted that in the first five minutes, when she said that she only let them draw something once and she thought that was donating plasma, but maybe it wasn’t. If Leah could have let it go there, she would have won that point, but as Sonja said, Leah was determined to get up on her soapbox and wag her finger, and that’s were it got tedious. Also, trying to get everyone stirred up about Heather was a little much.
Sonja: I’m worried about her! This episode was not a good look for her.
Jennifer: I think Jennifer is great when she’s with her husband and her family. Not so much when she’s with the ladies. Her petty side comes out and she is absolutely gleeful when she’s lobbing random insults at them. The look on her face when she was saying that Margaret started the rumor about Jackie’s husband cheating was just too much.
Rinna: It’s typical Lisa Rinna to ask Garcelle out to dinner just as the season is starting to apologize and try to head off any drama at the pass, but still get the whole conversation on camera. If she really cared to apologize to Garcelle, she would have done it months earlier.
Crystal: I’m all for making fun of the fashions on these shows, but I don’t love saying that people are dressing too young, especially when the person saying that is much younger than everyone else and wearing a dress that looks like a ruched garbage bag. Eesh!
Who Made the Guest List:
Kathy Hilton: Guys, that dentist story was so strange and not at all what I expected from Kathy Hilton. Is she going to have more in common with Kim that I thought? I’m here for that!
Sutton and Garcelle: I’m excited for Sutton and Garcelle this season. I love that they’ve been hanging out, that Garcelle has named her goldfish Dorit and Kyle, that Sutton is renting Kyle’s house and has put all kinds of strange decor and their fashions are both questionable. I think they’re going to be a lot of fun.
Dorit’s Son Jagger: His brutal take down of his mother’s look might make him the MVP of the season.
Luann: It seems like Luann is really struggling with alcohol this season and this week was a hard situation to be in. I’m not sure why she picked going to a winery and then a bar for her activity-it wasn’t great for her or Sonja-but I want the best for her and I’m hoping that she can work through it.
Eboni: I was into everything Eboni did in this episode, from calmly discussing why Ramona shouldn’t call people “the help” and getting her apologize, to stuffing her purse full of lobster rolls.
Dolores: I thought she was pretty much the only person who came out of this episode of the reunion looking good. Her ability to let things go and to see other people’s points of view and not just pick a team to be on definitely sets her apart from the rest of the cast.
