Things I've Ordered and Loved for Fall
I’ve been getting all the fall feels for shopping in the past few weeks, but I tried to approach my ordering with more of a comprehensive plan than my normal impulse buying. I made a goal of sticking with a lot of neutrals that can be mixed together and are comfortable enough to wear around the house with kids but take me up a notch or two from sweatpants. I think I stuck to my goals pretty well! I’ve linked some of my favorites below with my thoughts.
Tops and Sweaters:
GAP Polka Dot Blouse: I ran into the GAP with my youngest the other day to get the denim overall dress of her dreams (yes, she did wear it every other day for two weeks and was so happy), and I impulse bought this blouse, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I made this fall. It’s light and easy and works with everything!
Jenni Kayne Everyday Sweater in Oatmeal: I resisted ordering this sweater for a long time because I’m sensitive to wool and was convinced that I would be itchy in it, but it’s actually so soft. The oatmeal is the perfect neutral color too-it works with almost every pair of pants I own.
Dudley Stephens Park Slope and Brighton Boatneck Tops: I now own the Park Slope in camel and green and the Brighton in natural blush and I love them all. I think the cut of the Park Slope is the most flattering, but the boatneck is slightly lighter and I don’t overheat in it the way that I can sometimes in the Park Slope. Tossing one of them on with jeans and flats or leggings and sneakers is so easy but still looks somewhat pulled together.
Pants and Jeans:
Athleta Elation 7/8 Tights and Salutation Stash Pocket Tights: I’m still not sure how I’ve missed out on these leggings for so long, but now that I have them, I’m so happy. They’re light weight but still smooth me out and they’re matte, which means that I can wear them when I’m working out but they also look normal for running around town in sneakers or tucked into boots.
J. Crew Jeans: I have these in a lighter wash and love them , so I was really excited to find them in a darker wash with a raw hem-they look a little edgier and also great with flats.
Shoes:
Margaux Flats: These are the most padded and comfortable ballet flats I’ve ever owned. Plus they come in wide sizes, so there’s absolutely no toe squishing—my feet are so happy.
Sam Edelman Aubrie Sneaker: Simple and easy and fresh looking. I had on the go sneakers in a couple of different colors, but I really wanted a simple beige for the fall and these fit the bill.
Jackets:
North Face Cragmont Fleece: As you may have noticed in my Monday Missives this fall, I’ve been obsessed with finding the perfect sherpa jacket. After trying and returning several versions, I saw my cousin wearing this North Face jacket last weekend and I knew it was the one. It’s not too fitted on the bottom and a lighter color (two problems I had with other versions), so I couldn’t wait to copy her and order it.
J. Crew Quilted Downtown Field Jacket: I’ve been talking about this jacket all fall and it is so good. It’s comfortable and casual but the gold buttons dress it up just enough to make it look polished.
