Royal You Should Know About: Princess Eugenie
Official Title: HRH Princess Eugenie of York, although she does not use her title in daily life as she is not a working royal
Place in Order of Precedence: Princess Eugenie is currently the tenth in line for the British throne, she is the second daughter of Prince Andrew, the Queen’s second oldest son.
Romantic History: Eugenie is married to Jack Brooksbank. They just celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary and dated for around 8 years prior.
Children: She is currently expecting her first child!
Work and Key Patronages: Eugenie has had to work for a living, which has included time at Paddle 8 auction house in New York, and her current role at Hauser & Wirth art gallery as a director. Her husband Jack was the general manager of Mahiki, a nightclub the young royals frequented and now works for George Clooney and Rande Gerber’s tequila brand, Casamigos. She has also built her own private portfolio of charitable work with patronages for the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Coronet Theatre, the European School of Osteopathy, and the Elephant Family (her mother is also patron and Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are joint presidents). She is also an ambassdor for the Artemis Council of the New Museum, Project O, and is a director of the Anti-Slavery Collective and patron of Anti-Slavery International.
Why You Want to Have Tea with Her:
Eugenie and her sister Beatrice tend to fly under the radar a bit, because unlike cousins William and Harry, they aren’t full-time working royals. The last few years they have definitely been higher profile, with Eugenie getting the full princess treatment for her engagement and wedding, which was likely the last televised British royal wedding for 20 years. Her sister’s wedding this summer, followed by her pregnancy announcement has further grown the goodwill towards both women. While their father, Prince Andrew is a huge source of controversy because of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York is also occasionally controversial on her own, the two sisters have risen above all of that with grace.
The other big splash that the sisters made on a global stage was at William and Kate’s wedding, when their edgy fashion choices resulted in hat choices that made them incredibly meme-worthy. Since they are not working royals, we often get to see them in edgier streetwear, leather pants, mini dresses and more. Eugenie has grown to become one of the truly most fashionable extended royal family members. This is likely also helped by the extremely hip crowd she runs with socially. Some of her closest friends include Ellie Goulding, Misha Nonoo, Karlie Kloss, and Ed Sheeran.
Eugenie has been very public about undergoing surgery for scoliosis when she was 12, and has supported many organizations and hospitals that specialize in it. She is also one of the only royals with a personal Instagram, and frequently uses her account to highlight other people with scars and celebrate them.
When Eugenie was married in 2018, she truly made her public mark as a modern princess - her Peter Pilotto dress was one of my favorites of all time, with low back that showed off her scoliosis scar, perfect tailoring and and epic train. Plus, the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara, which was perfect with her coloring, and was said to have been saved specially for her by the Queen. She also had one of the best reception dresses, designed by Zac Posen, with sublime draping and a pale blush color. Prince George and Princess Charlotte served in the wedding party, along with several other royal cousins children!
