Our Favorite Podcasts Right Now
I’m doing a challenge to get in 12k steps per day, which means Trucks and I have taken to doing a lot of walks around the neighborhood. There’s nothing that’s more motivating for a walk than a new podcast episode that I’ve been looking forward to, and since I’m walking more than ever, I’ve been on the hunt for new podcasts. I’d love more recommendations, so please share your favorites that we need to try in the comments! -Eloise
Pop Culture:
Bone, Marry Bury: I don’t know if this is pop culture but it’s fun and created by Becca from Bad on Paper. Her first two narrative podcasts were through Rom Com Pods, and this is definitely darker and more adult. The 26 year old main character is voiced by Sarah Hyland from Modern Family. She meets several guys at a NYE party and we find out that she boned, married and buried three within a month, so it’s a bit of a mystery! - D
Bitch Sesh: My eternal favorite-this Real Housewives podcast with Casey Wilson and Danielle Schneider never gets old. -E
Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino: I love Danny’s voice-it’s like listening to David from Schitt’s Creek talk about Real Housewives in such a funny way. -E
Bad on Paper: I love listening to Grace and Becca talk about everything from their book clubs to their best Amazon purchases. Grace is leaving the podcast in a few weeks, so I’m interested to see what energy the new co-host brings to the show. -E
Girls Gotta Eat: This is a podcast that sometimes really annoys me, but other times I love! They have great guests and talk about a lot of topics that there is still a little bit of a taboo around. I also really appreciated their dating insight when I was single and it felt like a perspective that was right for being a little bit older in the game. -D
Royals:
Pod Save the Queen: An award winning behind the scenes look at England’s royal family by the Daily Mirror, which covers everything from their fashion to their legal troubles to interviews with other royal experts. -D
When Diana Met…: Host Aminaout Sow deep dives in Princess Diana’s most notable meetings, the story behind some of the most iconic images of the princess and her fashion influences. -D
The Royal Rota: The Royal Editor and Royal Producer from ITV take a look at the most memorable royal stories of the week and deep dive into them with a fast-paced and entertaining take on the latest news. -D
Health and Wellness:
Dear Therapists with Lori Gottlieb and Guy Winch: Lori’s book Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, is one of my favorites, so I was thrilled to learn that she has a podcast. Listeners send in their stories and then Lori and Guy (both therapists) discuss them and help the listeners work through the problem. It’s like eavesdropping on a therapy session!
We Can Do Hard Things: Listening to Glennon Doyle talk to her sister and her wife, Abby Wambach, is so soothing to me. They also interview very interesting people-one of my favorites was with Dr. Laurie Santos, where they talk about the myths of happiness and Dr. Santo’s class on “Psychology and the Good Life” at Yale.
The Blonde Files: I look forward to this podcast every week! Arielle Lorre is a health and wellness enthusiast who interviews experts in those areas, and I’ve taken away a lot of interesting facts and ideas from those episodes. She’s also very open about her plastic surgery and interviews doctors and influencers in that area and I’m so entertained by the behind the scenes peek at that-don’t you want to know how Ariana Grande got that glow up or what the Kardashians are really doing to change their appearances?
