Monday Missive: October 12

What We’re Talking About This Week:

This week is all about embracing fall wardrobes, appreciating “spooky season” and more!

What We’re Wearing:

There is a fitness gear brand in Boston that is cute and has a pretty solid following, but to be honest, I know they aren’t manufacturing the product, and that you can buy the same leggings from Brazilian brands on Amazon. I decided it was finally time to get a pair of the leggings this week and I love the texture of them and how high-waisted and supportive they are. They definitely make my athleisure wardrobe cuter! -Dinah

What We’re Watching:

I think quarantine and what our brother described as “6 months of March” has made me extra appreciative of the seasons. I’ve been trying to embrace the Halloween spirit by watching a few of my favorite spooky/magical movies this week. Since I don’t like anything too scary or gory, I’ve been going with some family classics like The Addams Family Values, Teen Witch and Harry Potter. It’s really fun escapism and a full Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon may need to be next. - Dinah

What We’re Cooking:

Every fall I get very into making pumpkin bread, and every fall I’m the only one who eats it! With the goal of tempting Chad and the girls to get into it, I made this Half Baked Harvest recipe with a few swaps. I made it gluten free flour for Chad, and I added chocolate chips instead of pomegranate seeds for the girls. This recipe is great because it has no sugar-it uses applesauce and maple syrup instead, so it’s very moist and feels almost like a cake with addition of the chocolate chips, but I can feel like it’s a little bit healthier and the girls loved it! -Eloise

What We’re Listening To:

Best of Both Worlds Podcast by Laura Vanderkam and Sarah Hart-Unger: This podcast is dedicated to maximizing your time when you’ve got a family and a career, but there’s a lot of episodes about work/life balance, working from home efficiently and lots of health/mindfulness/wellbeing tips that are relevant for everyone. I’m trying to get into better habits now that we’re settling into e-learning and this has been so helpful in getting me to be more conscious of how I use my time. Both of the podcasters also have their own podcast about planning that look great too! -Eloise
