What We’re Reading and Watching
I had so much fun reading Anna K Away this weekend. The follow-up to Anna K, a reimagining of Anna Karenina set in the world of uber-wealthy New York teens by Jenny Lee, this book dives us back into the world of Anna and her group during the summer after the previous novel. Anna has been jetted off to South Korea by her strict father after all of her scandals and while Lolly and Stephen are hoping that their love survives a summer apart. It’s a very fun quick read that was perfect for relaxing on a weekend. -E
I feel like I have so many weekly shows to keep up with now, which feels very different than the way I’ve been watching tv lately! Between the new seasons of Real Housewives of New York and Beverly Hills (which premieres this week), Younger and Cruel Summer, it’s been busy and now the girls and I are also devoted to the new season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. It’s a lot to keep up with, haha! -E
On Friday night I tried to watch the movie version of The Woman in the Window on Netflix, but it was honestly really really bad. I read the book a while ago, and even knowing the plot I just couldn’t get into it. I then switched over to watching the new Halston show on Netflix, which I liked more - the fashion is fun, the cast is good (Emily Gilmore!) and it isn’t too stressful. - D
The last book I read was slow going, so I was excited to have The Office of Historical Corrections by Danielle Evans come up in my library loans (thank you to my friend Morgan for the rec!!). It’s very thought provoking commentary on race and relationships, and since it’s all short stories, plus one novella, I have been able to just read one each night before bed. - D
What We’re Buying
Now that the weather is nice, we’ve been spending a bunch of time at the beach and the girls can’t get enough of kayaking and paddle boarding. We bought this inexpensive kid’s kayak last summer and I think I’m going to order another one because it’s so easy-everyone ages 5 and up can easily get around on it and all the girls love to paddle around for hours on it. -E
I am out of eye cream, so I turned to my favorite, Supergoop to try their Bright-Eyed! I love a daytime eye cream that has a little bit of tint so that my dark circles get a little bit of coverage even if I’m not wearing other makeup, plus SPF 40. I like it so far, but will share more as I use it. - D
What We’re Making
We made the Rosemary Chicken and Avocado Bacon Pitas with Honey Feta Sauce from Half-Baked Harvest to take down to the beach for a picnic on Friday night and they were so good! The kids each assembled their own according to their preferences and Chad and I put as much of everything as we could could in the pita. Even my picky eaters liked it and they were super portable. - E
Hadley made us waffles Sunday morning using this super easy recipe and they turned out perfectly! We’ve tried many a waffle recipe and mix and I think these were the best yet. -E
