Monday Missive: March 28
I had such a fun weekend, going to visit some of my boyfriend’s family that I hadn’t met yet, with stops to visit Miss Porter’s and have lunch with a friend on the way there and back! This past week was very entertaining for me with the Cambridge’s out on a royal tour. It was not without controversies, although most of those seemed to be created by the media and less by the actual tour? I thought Kate’s outfits were 80% perfect and 20% insane, which is a usual mix for her. Prince Philip’s memorial service is this week, which should be interesting as many of the other European royals are going to be in attendance. - D
We were home this week but still on spring break, so I have been to every jump park and climbing wall in Maryland trying to entertain the girls! It was fun, but I’m happy to be on a more normal schedule this week ad to catch up on regular life. Did anyone else watch the Oscar’s last night? We watched the arrivals and the beginning of the show to check out the outfits, but missed all of the craziness later on. I thought Zoe Kravitz and Ariana DeBose both looked amazing and the girls were very into Zendaya’s outfit. We were divided on Jessica Chastain’s dress (the flouff at the bottom was too much for me) and Penelope Cruz’s dress (but loved their hair and makeup!).

What We’re Reading and Watching
Bad Vegan, the docuseries on Netflix about the famous vegan restauranteur, Sarma Melngailis, and the rise and fall of her New York restaurant after she become involved with Anthony Strangis, a very strange (haha!) many that she meets online. He convinces her of all kinds of crazy things, ie that he can make her dog immortal, and they end up on the run, ultimately arrested by the police when they order a Domino’s pizza to their hideout. It’s a fascinating and wild story! -E
The second season of Bridgerton is here! I watched the first four episodes this weekend, and am enjoying the costumes, sets and music covers as much as ever. I’ve read some complaints about this season being less steamy than last season, and I do think that we have reached a quote of longing stares from across the room, but I’m still enjoying the story and the new additions to the cast. There is one actress on the show who is killing me with her overacting, and I’m dying to know if it’s bothering anyone else??? -E
Currently reading Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead: A Mystery and really enjoying it. -E
I was in the mood for a murder and read The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley, which was so good! It’s about a woman who goes to visit her brother in Paris, but he has gone missing and there are signs that something may have happened to him - plus the occupants of his fancy apartment building are all hiding secrets. I saw one or two of the twists coming but not all of them and definitely recommend it! - D
Below Deck: Australia just started on Peacock and I am obsessed! Aesha is the chief stew and three episodes in there is already chef drama and a heavy dose of toxic masculinity. Plus, the captain is SUPER dreamy - I’m burnt out on Summer House/Austen drama, so it’s been a nice antidote to that! - D
What We’re Buying
The Printfresh Instagram ads got me and I ordered one of their dresses last week. I read that it runs large, so I ordered a size down and it was still pretty big. The print it so pretty though! -E
Did you see that we made our first reel this weekend? It was all about my new favorite green and white tablescape with Amazon finds. I’m totally obsessed with the bamboo vase that I featured in it-it’s so stylish and makes it easy to create a simple flower arrangement with punch. If that one’s more than you want to spend, this and this would both be good options for a similar look. -E (I already bought the vase for myself! - D)
I’ve been working on my lash game and applying Grandelash and I think it’s really working to get my lashes thicker and longer. I’m also trying out the Blinc mascara and it took me a few tries to get used to the angled brush, but now I’m into it! It’s a tubing mascara like my favorite Caliray, but it has a more dramatic look. -E
My concealer was getting low so I reordered my favorite from Tarte - the Creaseless Concealer. It has such a nice coverage and finish that I have a mini one I keep in my purse at all times. - D
What We’re Making
I’m so excited that Shellbees Kitchen included me in a test of their first run of Mixt Jars, and our whole family loved the easy and delicious salad. Definitely check them out if you’re in the Annapolis area! -E
I made this Creamy Buffalo Chicken Casserole last week-it was different from my usual cooking style but Cece is obsessed with Buffalo sauce right now and it was also pretty healthy, so I thought I would give it a try and it was big hit! Cece and I even ate the leftovers for lunch. -E
