Monday Missive: December 13
I love this time of year, but it definitely has me running all over the place! Work has been crazy busy, with everyone trying to get things done before the holidays. I made a delightful trip to the SoWa Holiday Market with my friend and her baby, went out to dinner Saturday and spent a full day on Sunday doing stuff for my apartment. Sunday night, I was in bed by 8:30 to make sure I could survive this week! - D
Definitely on the same page over here! After a crazy weekend, I woke up on Sunday with my neck and back feeling all the tension. Since I seem to store all my stress and tension in my back, I’ve gotten better at managing it, so I pulled out my trusty acupressure mat and relaxed on that for a half an hour and then did a Melissa Wood Health stretching work out and made the world’s healthiest smoothie. I felt much better after that, and then was off to Trader Joe’s, an indoor field hockey game with Hadley and some more Christmas decorating and shopping. Also, the front hall of my house looks like a UPS store and I really need to do something about it!-E

What We’re Reading and Watching
I am very late to this game, but newly obsessed with Selling Sunset! It’s like the cast of The Hills grew up and became realtors, which is exactly the level of TV that I need these days. The outfits they wear to showings, Christine’s theme parties, the houses, the crossovers with other tv shows through their various husbands and boyfriends - I love it so much even though it’s so obviously all staged. - D
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City may be the best show on Bravo right now with Jen getting arrested, Mary just existing as a person let alone maybe being a cult leader (I can’t with her criticisms of the other ladies fashion…girl, look in a mirror and stop giving away your old handbags), and Lisa trying so hard to manipulate behind the scenes and getting called out on it. It’s my favorite TV hour of the week! - D
Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey was the warm hug of a book that I needed this week. It’s a rom com, but I think that the heroine spends more time worrying about her career path and her family and friends than she does worrying about her romantic life, which was so refreshing! Teddy gets dumped by her boyfriend is stalled in her career, when she writes in to the host of her favorite local children’s show. Meet cutes ensue, but Teddy is also working on rebuilding her life as a whole, and honestly, that was my favorite part! -E
Are you watching Baking It? Our family is so into it. -E
What We’re Buying
Visiting the SoWa Market is one of my favorite Boston holiday events! I’m pretty good on gifts, but I did buy one or two things for myself including a small, framed abtract print from Moss and Blue (the artist is Julianne Strom Brill, and she was so lovely), that is just what my gallery wall needed. I love being able to support smaller artists and vendors without going through Etsy or an online storefront. - D
I needed some decorations for the second tree that we put in our dining room this year. Our main tree is a mishmash of ornaments that the kids have made or that our mom’s have made for us, which is just how I like it, so I decided that we would be more organized for the second tree and have more of a look. I ordered a bunch of these mercury glass balls on Etsy and am so excited for them to arrive. -E
I got this to give my hair some more oomph and I’m loving it! I work a little to the roots when my hair is damp and it definitely gives it more volume without looking stiff and weird. -E
What We’re Making
I have been on such a brussel sprouts kick, but wanted to mix it up a little bit so I made this very easy honey and balsamic glaze. The flavor was great, but I felt like it made them a little bit soggier than I like. - D
This cozy rich soup recipe is on my list for dinner this week. It looks like an almost insane amount of flavor but also so delicious. -E
And I can’t wait to make and eat my favorite chewy ginger molasses cookies! -E
