Monday Missive: August 9
What a week it has been! We have been fully enjoying the “work from home/the beach” life, and after a weekend of big parties and Eloise’s birthday, this week will hopefully be a little bit more relaxed.
Monday Missive: August 9
What We’re Reading and Watching
I’m reading The Magic of Found Objects by Maddie Dawson and loving it. When Phronsie’s best friend proposes to her, she has to decide whether she wants to marry for companionship and share history, or hold out for passion and romance. This leads to examine her past and the effect of growing up as the child of two wildly different parents, and I’m enjoying every minute of reading it! -E
I also just started the series Young Royals on Netflix, a Swedish show about the heir to the throne who’s sent to boarding school to escape from a scandal, but that doesn’t seem to stop anyone from getting into lots of drama at school. I also loved season 2 of Never Have I Ever and now i’m wondering if I need to check out Cooking with Paris? Let me know if you’ve seen it! -E
Eloise had already read this, but I finally got The Hunting Wives, which was such a fast and wild story! It’s about a woman who moves back to the small Texas town she went to high school in, and falls into a group of very wealthy and wild women. Her growing fascination with Margot, the leader of the group takes her down a very ugly and dramatic spiral of events. - D
I haven’t had a ton of time for new TV this week, but I did get fully caught up on RHOBH! I love this season, and I feel like the women are doing a great job of keeping things light and silly in between the very serious Erika drama and the impact of Covid on filming. - D
What We’re Buying
It’s been chilly at night lately, so I’ve been buying light sweaters because I packed zero nice sweaters forgetting that Rhode Island gets cool once the sun goes down. I’m totally obsessed with a pale pink Kinross Cashmere one that I just got at OMO Jewels, and this rib stitched pullover from Sara Campbell. They’re both on the pricier side but such a nice quality. -E
Three Islands, a clothing company owned by a family friend, had their big warehouse sale this past weekend, and I got the cutest bathing suit for my boyfriend, and a new pair of their super comfy sleep shorts for myself. - D
I got the cutest champagne bottle earrings that I wore last night and got so many compliments on! These Amazon ones are a cute dupe for only $10. -E
What We’re Making
My mom threw me the cutest golf themed birthday party and I can’t wait to share about on our Festive Friday post! It involved my absolutely favorite Sundried Tomato Dip from the Barefoot Contessa which you should go out and make immediately if you haven’t had it before. It’s so so good with veggies and with potato chips. -E
My big plan for this week is to make the Half Baked Harvest Prosciutto Balsamic Peach Chicken with Burrata and Basil - it was one of the best things I made last summer, but you really need the peaches to be in season. - D
