Monday Missive: June 13
I had a fun and busy weekend in Watch Hill - my future in-laws came down for the day and we looked at rehearsal dinner venues and showed them around town. It was so nice to show them my hometown, but also exhausting! We also had a date night at the Olympia Tea Room, and I had my first zucchini ribbons of the season, which I literally think about all winter long. I feel like I am getting into the summer “weekends away” groove, but still adjusting to the constant packing and laundry schedule. - D
Chad and I had so much fun running around Charleston and Columbia this weekend. In Charleston, we basically shopped, ate, walked around and looked at pretty houses and then repeated that all again! We had so many wonderful meals, but I would say 167 Raw was probably our favorite-I could eat their tuna tataki and crispy oysters every day. In Columbia, we got to see old friends, check out the USC stadium, eat more amazing food and stay up way too late talking. It’s amazing how a weekend in a new place can be such a reset! We may not have gotten enough sleep to actually it restful, but I do feel refreshed and ready to hit the ground running this week. -E
What We’re Reading and Watching
I think Eloise already talked about this book, but I read Beautiful Little Fools by Jillian Cantor, which is a retelling of the Great Gatsby from the perspectives of the women in the story. It was very entertaining, and I loved the creative liberties she took with reframing the story and the truth of what was happening behind the scenes. - D
I’ve been watching the newest housewives show on the block, The Real Housewives of Dubai, but I’m still not sure what I think about it. Love the glitz and glam and outfits, but I haven’t decided where I come down on the ladies themselves yet. Does anyone have a favorite? -E
Not sure that I will be getting on the glamping bubbles bandwagon anytime soon, but these destinations did look amazing!-E
This article had so may good sunscreen recommendations for every type of skin and there were a bunch of brands that I had never heard of. -E
I stayed up way too late watching Made For Love on HBO Max and it was worth it. Christina Milian plays the wife of tech entrepreneur bazillionaire who’s husband implants a chip in her brain and the story just gets more out there from that point, but it totally pulled me in. I had never heard of it, but it has two seasons and I can’t wait to get into the second one soon.-E
I haven’t read this new release yet, but it’s at the top of my to do pile.
What We’re Buying
I’m in bathing suit shopping mode right now and have my eye on this solid one-piece from J. Crew and then this cute blue and white floral one-piece from Andie Swim. - D
I restocked on Supergoop! for the summer and am so excited about the Daily Dose Hydra-Ceramide Boost + SPF 40 Oil. I think it will be a super hydrating way to add more SPF to my morning routine! - D
The color of this dress is amazing. -E
This is so cute for little girls. We popped into their Charleston store this weekend and I wanted one of everything. -E
I’ve read so many reviews that talk about how comfortable these sandals are that I’m thinking I should try them. -E
Speaking of Charleston shopping, we went into Beau & Ro, and I wanted one of everything in there, including this green dress and this maxi skirt and this blue and white top.
What We’re Making
When I’m craving zucchini ribbons, I turn to Chrissy Teigen’s zucchini fries recipe, and just slice it differently! Works like a charm. - D
This sounds like the kind of party that I would be thrilled to be invited to. -E
We had so much fresh seafood in Charleston and it made me want to perfect my cocktail sauce recipe and just eat shrimp and oysters all the time! I realized that the key for me is a semi-insane amount of horseradish for a kick. -E
Ina’s Easy Summer Dinner suggestions are really calling to me. -E
