Three Things Eloise is Talking About This Week:
UNITE 7 Seconds Detangler: This leave-in conditioner spray is saving our hair this summer! I got it at my salon, when I was saying that my girls’ hair was turning into straw from too much time in the pool and the boat and beach. This spray smells good and makes their hair like silk, plus it protects from heat and UV rays. I love it for my own hair, especially since it’s been way too hot to spend a lot of time blow-drying this month. I work some in at the ends when my hair is damp and it eliminates all the frizz.
Amy Schumer Learns to Cook: I’m loving this cooking show made in quarantine by Amy Schumer and he husband, Chris, who’s a professional chef and cookbook author. Filmed by their nanny with a hand held camera, and two stable cameras place in the kitchen, it’s very raw and relaxed, but also incredible funny. I laughed out loud when Amy’s “confident pour” went askew and it felt like the just the right level of humor and patter.
Vases on Amazon: I was in desperate need of a fresh idea for gifts to give, and I came across a ton of inexpensive vases on Amazon. I love this blue and white one, these are very affordable would be perfect to fill with flowers from the garden (or the local farmer’s market or grocery store) and give as a gift, and these are so sweet for succulents. I love to give flowers, but hate the awkwardness of giving them without a vase, and this is such a great solution. I ordered several to give and to keep for myself!
Three Things Dinah is Talking About This Week:
Harborside Upcycled: I found this company through a RI business that I follow and fell in love with their work. They use recovered fishing rope to make ocean-inspired framed pieces of artwork. It’s just the right amount of nautical without veering into cheesy and would be perfect in any coastal home. They have other products too made from old buoys and other ocean debris - I think the bottle openers would be such a fun hostess gift for someone with a boat!
Young Buns : If you live within driving distance of Mystic, Connecticut or Watch Hill, Rhode Island, then you have probably visited one of the best bakeries in the country, Sift Bake Shop. Owned by the Young family (some of my favorite people in the entire world), the French-inspired bakery is heavenly and has grown over the last few years, most recently adding a rooftop deck in Mystic with a bar and juices. The big surprise of the summer was when they announced that they were opening a donut shop called Young Buns! Like Sift, it’s a great mix of classics and fun, creative flavors. They usually run out by mid-afternoon (if not sooner) so get there early.
Dinner Inspiration: The big item on my to-do list for the rest of the summer is to try out more Half Baked Harvest recipes while I am still living with other people. At the top of my list is this recipe she posted today for prosciutto balsamic peach chicken with burrata and basil. What an incredible combo of summer flavors, plus we have so much basil growing in our garden!
