2021 Reading List: January - March

I was researching books to read and there were so many new ones coming out this year that I was excited about. I honestly had planned to just do one big post for the year, but I couldn’t figure out a way to fit them all in one post, so I decided to post every three months. The books I’ve chosen are a wide range, from YA romance to historical mysteries - and a few of our favorite genres like rich person thrillers, high school dramas, royals and fantasy.

The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins

I love the premise of this, a Southern gothic version of Jane Eyre where Jane is a dog walker struggling with money who decides to marry the wealthy Eddie Rochester. Like the classic, Jane can’t shake off that Eddie’s dead wife isn’t necessarily gone from this world.

I love a great fake-dating rom com plot, and this book where radio producer Shay has to fake being exes with her new co-worker seems right up my alley! In order to make the jump to on-air talent and execute her brilliant idea of a radio show where exes give relationship advice life on air, Shay ends up faking it, and hopefully falls in love?

The first adult romance from YA writer Sandhya Menon under a psuedonym, the story centers around rival app developers, one focused on helping people make relationships work, and another helping people break up as efficiently as possible. Um, I am a little bit obsessed with cults, so this thriller sounds amazing! It follows journalist Lo Denham, who has spent the past six years trying to uncover the truth about a cult that her sister is embroiled in. She finally gets the lead she has been looking for to take them down, and is forced to face off with the charismatic leader to expose them and free her sister.
