Watermelon Recipes
This time of year, all we want to eat is watermelon! It’s our favorite easy snack to have on hand (the key is to cut it up in advance and have it ready to go in the fridge so that you don’t have to make a mess more than once!) and we love working it into recipes.
Cocktails
One of our go-to cocktails for years has been the GOOP Watermelon Margarita. It’s easy enough to make, and we tend to go lighter on the agave, especially if the watermelon we are using is super ripe and sweet. We also sometimes don’t strain it after blending the watermelon chunks for a more “frozen drink” texture!
Camille Styles has a recipe with watermelon, mint and vodka that looks so light and refreshing. - E
Chad likes his margaritas spicy, so this recipe with jalapeno and ancho chili powder for the rims looks perfect for packing an extra kick. - E
Creative Salads and Desserts
Sometimes for dinner in the summer, I don’t have the energy to make something hot, so I just whip up a caprese salad, or a watermelon and feta combination. This recipe from Half Baked Harvest is a little bit more complicated and looks amazing, but I will sometimes just toss together watermelon, feta, arugula and some balsamic for a simple, delicious dinner on a hot night. - D
We also love using the grill as much as possible in the summer, and love the idea of using a glass to cut watermelon into rounds, then grilling them to caramelize the flavor. Such a simple salad, but elevated by the tiny prep details! - D
One of the big family parties we are planning is an Olympics (more on that to come later!) and I’m eyeing this Sesame and Soy Watermelon Poke as a perfect addition to our Japanese-inspired menu. - D
Desserts
The easiest (and healthiest) summer dessert that we regularly make is wedges of watermelon, drizzled with honey and lime juice, and topped with mint leaves. It is wildly easy, but so delicious and the perfect little something extra at any party or dinner.
If you want to take it up a level, this watermelon cake looks like the most amazing thing ever, and now that I’ve found it, I’m going to have to try it this weekend! - E
Watermelon Fun
Watermelon face masks are great for stressed summer skin. The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleep Mask is a classic and has over 1,000 rave reviews for its bouncy gel texture and moisturizing capabilities. I also just got the Acure mask for less than $10 and it’s supposed to be great for brightening and refreshing overworked skin.
How cute are those watermelon earrings? And it’s only $12 for two pairs. Amazon is really good at fun and inexpensive earrings right now.
This giant watermelon sprinkler would be so cute for entertaining little kids on a hot day, while the extra large watermelon pool float can fit a few big kids at once. Then you can dry everyone off with the quick dry watermelon pool towel.
