Three New Beach Reads for Your Next Vacation

On Mother’s Day, all I wanted up to do was stay in bed reading for as long as possible. I cancelled the brunch reservation that I’d made and Chad got us smoothie bowls from Rutabaga instead, and I fluffed up all the pillows and just stayed doing cozy light reading for three hours and it was perfect happiness. That morning I was reading Cover Story and it was a fun escapist book that totally drew me in and made the time fly by. All three of these book were totally engrossing and would be perfect to read on a beach or a plane or just to escape in your own bed! -Eloise

Cover Story by Susan Rigetti

I thought that I had done enough con artist reading and watching after all of the Anna Delvey and Theranos stuff that’s been out there, but I still got totally sucked into this book and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the way that format switched between emails, and social media comments and diary entries. I also thought that the characters were very appealing and the twists just kept coming! I’m usually pretty good at predicting what’s coming and this one kept me on my toes which also made it very difficult to put down.

Sister Stardust by Jane Green

This was a great escapist book in a totally different way. Set in the 60’s in London and Marrakesh, Cece is a small town girl who stumbles into a group of rock stars and fashion icons and finds herself befriended by Talitha Getty. Adventures and drama and lots of drug use soon follow, and I was very worried about many of the characters, but it was a glamorous kind of worried, if you know what I mean.

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

I was reading this book last night and I almost put it away to start planning a trip to Positano. Chad and I spend part of our honeymoon in Positano and loved it, and this book gave me all of the Italian vibes and made me itch to go back. Katie’s in Positano and completely unmoored from her life after losing her mother/best friend and doesn’t know how to function in a world without her. It was a trip that they were supposed to do together when her mom beat cancer, but now Katie’s alone in Italy and trying to make sense of her new world, meeting new people and soaking up everything that an Italian summer has to offer (including cute men!).
