Three Things Eloise is Talking About This Week:
Enneagram Tests: After listening to Brene Brown’s podcast where she interviews Chris Heueritz about Enneagram types, I was so intrigued to learn more about this personality test and how the categories work. In the podcast, Brene tells a story about reading Chris’s book for the first time and how impactful it was to see herself so clearly in her Enneagram type and all of the insights she gained about her personality from the book. I got online and ordered his book right away and can’t wait to find out my type!
The Style Scribe: Merrit Beck’s blog thestylescribe.com is new to me, but it’s a very successful fashion blog that’s been around for some time. I love her clean style and accessible inspirational boards. From her Summer 2020 Capsule Wardrobe to her latest round-up of maxi dresses, she has a great range of price points and she mixes everyday classics with fun statement pieces. I’ve often found that her looks inspire me to root around in my closet and put together pieces that I already own in a new way that I would never would have thought of on my own.
Barefoot Contessa Fresh Corn Salad: This classic Ina Garten recipe from her very first cookbook is something that I’ve made every summer for the past ten years, but this year it’s my kids current favorite so we’ve been making every week now that corn is available and tasting so good! It’s also great for leftovers and keeps well for a few days in the fridge (not that it ever lasts that long in our house!).
Three Things Dinah is Talking About This Week:
On a Serious Note: This last week with the death of George Floyd and the overwhelming (and justified) anger in our country has been heartbreaking and as a white woman who has spent most of my life in predominantly white communities, I have been examining what I can do better. One thing I have focused on is making sure my social media feeds have a wider variety of diverse voices, and if you want to do the same I hope this list helps. It’s a mix of informative, influencer and media accounts that have been really valuable to me: @northernbelleofthesouth / @rachel.cargle / @thegreatunlearn / @ckyourprivilege / @georgina.whalen
Snail Skincare: Last week, the Wall Street Journal printed an article on quarantine skincare, which highlighted my FAVORITE beauty product (and the one that makes people think I am a little bit nuts) COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence! I have been using it as the first step in my skincare routine morning and night for around three years and I think it has really helped with my glowiness and texture. Last summer I tried a different essence and saw pretty drastic negative differences. If you are trying to dip your toe into Korean skincare, this is a great place to start!
Sweet Magnolias : Is everyone watching Sweet Magnolias on Netflix? It’s been the perfect palate-cleansing watch. I love how low-stakes the drama is, how hunky the baseball coach is, and how terrible Joanna Garcia Swisher and Chris Klein’s southern accents are. The female friendship group at the center of the show is the perfect center for the show and pretty realistic with disagreements and traditions and deep backstories. Also, Jamie Lynn Spears as the other woman cracks me up!
