Monday Missive: August 3
Three Things Eloise is Talking About This Week:
GOOPGENES: Gwyneth and company have come out with a new moisturizer, and I have to say that after watching the video of her talking about the cream with her mother, Blythe Danner, and her daughter, Apple, I totally want to order some and try it out. It’s being touted as an all-in-one super cream that addresses many form of aging, is great for dry skin, and can be applied day or night. I’m going to order some this week and I’ll give you a full report after a few weeks. There’s also an eye cream to go with it.
Bella Dahl Linen Shirt: This is my new favorite top. I got it at my friend Lisa’s shop last week, and I’m finding any excuse to wear it. It’s a lightweight linen that I’ve worn with shorts to the beach and with jeans to dinner. In the fall, I think I could throw it on with navy slacks or under a navy blazer. The subtle paint splatters make it special and different and the cut lets you tuck it in or leave it out depending on the look you want.
Real Housewives of Potomac: It’s back and this season looks so good! Please, please, please if you haven’t watched this show yet, drop everything and marathon it this week so that you’re ready for my recap on Friday. It is that good. These ladies have RHONY levels of drama and they really bring their A game each season. Will Ashley finally leave her terrible husband? Will Robin and Juan actually get married? And will someone punch Candiace in the face? I can’t wait to find out!
Three Things Dinah is Talking About This Week:
Beach Hat: I am not a good hat-wearer, especially since I’m obsessed with my very large Amazon sunglasses, which tend to hit the lower part of a hat brim. My quest to find a big straw beach hat led me to this beauty, which is UPF 50, rolls up into my beach bag and can be adjusted around any hairstyle and pair of shades (plus, I love the little bow in the back!). One of Eloise’s girls told me they thought it was “too big” - but that was kind of the point since I wanted as much sun protection as possible!
Matchmaker, Matchmaker: While I watch less TV in the summer, I love having a new series to get into. Last week I finally started Indian Matchmaking, a really fun Netflix reality show that follows an expert matchmaker who works with Indian singles all over the world. As a single lady, I love seeing the high expectations people have and watching the chemistry either take off or fall flat on a first date, even when they have professionally selected for each other. Also, I cannot imagine having my parents be so involved in my dating life!!
Sunflower Fields: Last week, we went on an adventure to Buttonwood Farm, where we were able to pick our own sunflowers (as in they gave us clippers and we could cut the ones we wanted from a giant field!) and then visited their ice cream stand which has a huge variety of flavors and the house special - sunflower ice cream! If you live in the RI/CT region and are looking for a fun day trip, I can’t recommend it more.
