Bravo Cocktail Party: May 7th

It’s one of my favorite times of the year in Bravo world, when the seasons start to change and I get to watch the season finales of shows where I’m so excited to watch certain people get called out for bad behavior (cough Hannah and Kary cough) and a few more minutes with my favorite Bravo friends (Carl, Amanda, Kyle and Danielle). But at the same time, I’m also excited about the kick-off of the new season on Real Housewives of New York, and so excited to see what the drama’s going to look like this season, that it’s only bittersweet to say good bye to the other shows. Let’s dive in and see who gets to relax on my party invite list and enjoy some canapes in the garden with me and Sonja, and who’s going be out in the cold and sent to Luke’s lake house in Minnesota.

Who’s Not Getting An Invite:

Hannah: Ugh, I know that my gripe against Hannah is getting old and I won’t get into it too much this week. But when it came out that she didn’t tell Amanda that she was engaged even though they talked on the phone two days after it, but then she did tell the press that Kyle was the only one who didn’t congratulate her on her engagement (he didn’t know because you kept it a secret from them!), my jaw was on the ground, along with most of the cast. I love Paige, but I don’t think she’s going to be able to keep straddling the fence on this one forever, and I think she’s going to have to choose sides between Hannah and Ciara and the rest of the group. at some point soon.

Luke: Literally all he had to do to complete his redemption arc was to stay quiet, but Luke had to put his foot in his mouth and tell Hannah that he was produced into inviting her to Minnesota. Why would he give her the ammo that she needed for a pity party for one? And did you love Andy mentioning that Luke has invited several Bravo producers and others to his lake house. Shockingly, it didn’t sound like any of them had taken him up on that offer….

Brandi and Kary: As Tiffany Moon said so eloquently backstage, “Brandi and Kary, always ruining it for everyone.” I do feel badly for Kary that she’s going through a divorce, and the way that she handled herself and apologized in this episode was the most likeable she’s been all season. Knowing what was going on and that she couldn’t talk about it makes the way that she was acting out more forgivable to me. But I couldn’t get over how awkward those screens propped up on the pillows looked and how disjointed the whole thing looked-plus Brandi’s make up and outfit were just bananas.

Joe Gorga: Speaking of people who are acting out because they’re going through some emotional turmoil, I’m agreeing with the New Jersey ladies that there’s something going on with Joey that’s making him so reactive to Melissa and so rude to Dolores. Even though I don’t like the way he’s been treating them at all, I do think there’s something bigger at the root and I hope that he can figure it out before it gets worse.

Leah’s Confessional Look: I think Leah is gorgeous, but I just cannot get into her fashion. Seriously, what is going on there? I thought that it would get better with her season 2 glow up, but it seems to have only gone more downhill. Otherwise, I’m excited to have Leah back stirring the pot and hanging with Eboni.

Who Made the Guest List:

The Cast of Summer House: There is no Bravo cast that I would rather party with than these guys. I loved the moment at the end of the reunion when Carl asked “Who has it better than us?” and everyone said “No one!” They have real friendships and real fights and real fun together and I think that’s huge part of what makes the show so fun. (Plus they’re all incredible good looking!)

Dolores: I felt so badly for Dolores in the last episode, and I thought that she did a beautiful job of articulating why it hurt her that her friends were all talking about her relationship and judging her. It’s hard for me to tell what she really feels about her relationship with David-sometimes I think that she’s got a happy balance in her life between Frank and David and she’s getting what she needs out of it, but sometimes I want more for her. I do think their dynamic at the joint birthday party for her children was very sweet and that they all seemed like one big happy family.

Margaret’s Pigtails: Is it wrong that I thought Marge’s pigtails looked great at her photoshoot for her book cover? I know they’re ridiculous but I can’t help but like them as her signature look.

Eboni: I’m so excited for the newest addition to the cast of Real Housewives of New York! Her first episode was en pointe-she wore a sweatshirt with the names of the Central Park Five to a meeting in the park, she was brutally open about her career and financial situation, she looked great, and she was hilarious when they got to Sonja’s house and she couldn’t greet them because she was individually washing off her garden stones while two interns watched. We all want to know if Sonja’s for real, haha!

Ramona, Luann and Sonja: The OG ladies are back and still very much themselves. Luann has more than one poster of herself hanging around her new apartment, which just happens to have a view of Tom’s apartment, Sonja’s back in the townhouse with 45 interns and financial stress but she looks great, and Ramona’s still flirting with Mario and offending everyone else. I didn’t know how much I missed these dames until I was watching last night and it felt like the past year had all been nothing but a bad dream.
