It seems like every year in Maryland, the temperatures drop dramatically right after Halloween. I’m ready for a decor change with the colder weather, but I don’t want to go into full holiday mode on November 1, so I start with swapping out my floral throw pillows for a plaid pillow in warmer hues, and then layer some cozy throws in as well, and it feels so good! It’s like tossing a few Christmad gifts into your cart when you’re doing a regular Target run-little steps of progress in the mad march to the end of the year!

Just a few small hits of plaid, whether they’re in muted blue tones or full on tartan colors, give our house instant mood switch. To add to the cozy vibe, I’ll layer in some fur or sherpa blankets or pillows. The girls are totally obsessed with cozy fur throws and they want them on every couch and bed around the house-we have everything from tasteful cable knit blankets lined with sherpa to the most over the top faux fur ski chalet throws that the girls picked out. It’s the most satisfying and easy seasonal switch to make! I was in Target and Anthropologie this week and they had a ton of cute options, and I’ve also linked some below-those green plaid pillows from Pottery Barn have just a touch of blue and are calling my name!
