Monday Missive: July 12

We’re back together in Rhode Island and so happy about it! Matching sister ice cream cones, walks to the lighthouse with kids and watching Cece get her first brass ring at the carousel. It might have been the perfect Sunday. Now we’re starting off the week fresh and rested with a trip to Stick + Fin for a healthy breakfast and hoping that the clouds will clear and we can hang out at the beach this afternoon after squeezing in a few hours of work (and maybe a little online shopping!). -E and D

Monday Missive: July 12

What We’re Reading and Watching

  • With the big girls at camp, Cece and I have been watching shows together at night. We had to check out the new Boss Baby sequel, The Boss Baby: Family Business, which we both really enjoyed. We also watched Penguin Town on Netflix, which follows the penguins who move into a town in South Africa every summer and find mates, raise families, and create a lot of penguin cuteness. We’ve also been into The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals, starring Luis Ortiz from Million Dollar Listing on Netflix. Now we’re ready to visit South Africa, or vacation in a tree house or houseboat! -E

  • Last week was hot outside and on my tv, as I got sucked into the steamy drama of Sex/Life, a juicy Netflix drama about a woman, Billie, who is married to a seemingly perfect man and father, but can’t stop thinking about her toxic ex and their incredible physical connection. When her husband finds her journal and reads it, everything starts to unravel. It is very adult, there is a ton of nudity, and the sex scenes are super hot, but also very fun to watch if you can get over the fact that none of the plot would be happening if she just changed the password on her computer! - D

  • The new Gossip Girl came out on HBOMax and it isn’t great, but it does make me miss New York! The characters are more diverse, but pretty much just an amalgamation of the original show - they basically split up the original character descriptions. The main difference is that the teachers at Constance play a much bigger role, and the identity of Gossip Girl isn’t a mystery (although I do love that GG is still voiced by Kristen Bell!). - D

  • I just finished People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. It was a fun rom com story about two friends who are wildly different but love to travel together. It’s note life-changing, but it’s a great book to read by the pool or beach in an afternoon. -E

What We’re Buying

  • I have a new favorite dress! You may have seen in our Instagram on last weekend, but Pink City Prints make the cutest summer dresses. The one I’m wearing is sold out, but this one is even better because it has a slightly scooped neck. The blue print is just so pretty. -E

  • Is there such a thing as too many smocked midi-length dresses? Not for me! I just ordered this one from Amazon - I like that the sleeves can go off the shoulder for date night and the leg action from the slit. - D

  • We’re obsessed with Stick + Fin in Westerly for our morning coffee, smoothies and avocado toast. Everything we’ve tried from there has been high quality, fresh and yummy. -E

What We’re Making

  • Check out everything we put together for our ice cream party here! It was so sweet and fun. -E
