Monday Missive: February 7

We had a busy and social (but very cold!) weekend! Trucks and I did get out for a nice walk on Sunday, but lately I’ve been walking on the treadmill inside, much to his disappointment. I’m doing a challenge with myself to only watch Bravo while walking on the treadmill because I feel like I’ve been stuck at my desk so much lately during the week that I’m just not moving enough, which tends to leave me a little grumpy. Sometimes I go a normal speed and sometimes I go very slowly so I don’t get too sweaty, but being able to watch all my housewives and Summer House while moving has made me feel so much better, even if I’m not going at a full workout speed. -E

What We’re Reading and Watching

  • The Cheerleaders was a great thriller with an ending that I did not predict. It might technically be a YA book because the protagonist is a high school girl in a town where the cheerleaders were disbanded after five of them died in one semester (one of which was her older sister). But the themes are very heavy-unplanned pregnancy, addiction, murder, so I probably wouldn’t give it to Lila or recommend for a young teen. It was a great read though-the characters felt so real and the mystery was engrossing and there were all kinds of twist and turns. -E

  • Guys, I’m finally watching The Undoing and I’m very stressed by it! I’ve made it through four episodes by staying up way too late the past few nights and I think I might need to stay up tonight until I finish it. I’m not sure who the most unhinged character is and I need to solve this mystery! -E

  • Unwinding Anxiety by Judson Brewer has been my morning educational read this week and it’s a very interesting study of habit loops and the tools you can use to help get yourself out of unhealthy cycles. It’s very research based and no nonsense-if you liked Atomic Habits, I think this will also be a interesting read for you. -E

  • This article about the making of My Best Friend’s Wedding was such a good read-so much behind the scenes scoop!-E
