One of the smalls pleasures of quarantine has been getting a peek into various royal home offices. From bold decor choices to telling personal photographs, they have made the zoom calls and photos ops even more of a fun escape, as well as a source of inspiration. Some of my favorites:

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands

Favorite details in King Willem-Alexander’s Office:

• The contrast of the white wooden panelling on one wall and painted in a moss green shade on the wall behind the desk

• The wooden bookcase displaying photos that include the King and Queen at Royal Ascot, and with Queen Elizabeth at the Order of the Garter service in 2019.

Favorite details in Queen Maxima’s Office

• THAT MURAL WALLPAPER!!!

• All of the gold and blue details from the window treatments to the desk and accessories

• Those glass-fronted built-in cabinets

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Favorite Details in the Duchess of Cambridge’s Office

• First and foremost - she has the same set of classic books that I do!!!

• The antiques mixed with comfortable furniture, royal but livable

• Her cute rattan desk accessories

• The fact that even he has a hideous filing cabinet and printer with ugly cords exposed!

• That lamp - just gorgeous.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

• The gold door frames and architectural details are incredible

• I can’t deal with those ultra-modern naked photos of her children - they are such a contrast to the rest of the decor and probably an indicator that her true taste is very different from the traditional design of the residence!

• I just love what a real working desk this is - paper calendar, random piece of fabric, iPad on top of a pile of books in the first picture and the empty tea cup, box of water and stray cords. It’s so relatable!

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain

Favorite Details

• I can’t tell exactly how these spaces are used, but the CONTRAST!! I’m dying over the ultra-traditional wood paneling and historic portrait versus the minimalist spaceship vibe of the second space.

• It’s refreshing to see them using a briefing doc with pictures and details of the others on the call. I have made so many of those for clients!

• The white room probably has the most flattering and professional lighting in any royal office! I would be surprised if it was designed with that in mind.
